Metal
Safe Sign products in fire training mock-up
The well-known trade magazine "The Naval Architect"
presents the following information in their October-number 2000:
Metal Safe Sign products in fire
training mock-up
"Two Scandinavian insurance companies, Storebrand and Scandia, has joined forces to
build a full-scale cruise liner/ferry mock-up, also one of the new Oslo Fjord road tunnel,
to practice real-life fire and rescue drills, and to hold courses for ship crews and other
key personnel. The ship mock-up is understood to be almost complete. A feature of this
will be the employment of newly developed photoluminescent products, which use a
revolutionary pigment for much improved illumination. These were pioneered by the
Norwegian specialist in this field, Metal Safe Sign, and were first featured in "The
Naval Architect" May 1997, page 14. The special paint has been developed in
association with Jotun Coatings. Floor low-location lighting and low-mounted profiles on
bulkheads will be included in the mock-up ship. Today, another Norwegian company, Technor,
based in Bergen and Stavanger, is also marketing Metal Safe Sign products under the name
Teclite".
